Marcilla Elizabeth Smith Let's get lively!

Hey there. Just joined. Not much to say, but all this art is beautiful. I appreciate having a partner who is an artist and fills our space with her beauty and creativity. THANK THE ARTIST IN YOUR LIFE! And celebrate your own art, including in this space. Now I wanna see some ART! =-) Continue

kitty well, she isn't a goddess...

...but she is finished. Mixed media (including eyeshadow) on scrap wood.

I have several unfinished projects laying around, waiting... What are you painting? Actually... she still needs a couple of coats of varnish. They just tend to scan better before that step. Continue

Elaina Gah!

So ok, I had a smoking relapse. I am a failure. I know, I know, that's stinkin' thinkin'. I just gotta do it. I had a stresssssful day in the middle of the week and smoked, and well. You know. Sorry bout the lack of activity. My house is a mess, and I must clean it before I can be at optimal running capacity. I have been making stuff daily, though, or at least working on projects, but I really need to do something about this crrrazy mess for my mind to work properly. I am working on getting my… Continue

Elaina I'm Quitting Smoking

Had my last cigs last night! OMG. I woke up in the middle of the very wee hours, and so I ate some cookie dough. I know I can do this. One of the benefits will be that I will have more time to make art. I been making a lot! I have a stupid kodak easyshare camera (which isn't stupid, just the software for it is) and can't get the software to recognize it so I can't upload my angel update photos. That is so frustrating. Welcome Cheryl Ann!!!! OK, this whole post has been too random. I think I… Continue

Elaina New Activities...

So I need to get off my ass and invite some more folks here, it looks like. I invited more than 2 women initially but watchagonnado? Gotta figure something out. I think that this network is a NECESSITY because I think it's important for women to have space in art that is all about the feminism. A place where they don't have to worry at all about being offensive to men. I'll just come right out and say it. When men get into the space, there's always that one guy who gets offended or argumentativ… Continue

Elaina Crrrazy week. But...

I think that the whole "you have a mission should you choose to accept it" approach to getting people to do arting is one of the most awesome ideas ever. I have lately been a tad fixated on goddesses- I have 2 paintings that are inspired by Yemaya and Oshun, two goddesses in the Yoruba and also Caribbean traditions (santeria, etc.) and I keep sort of coming out with these little Kali (hindu) goddesses that I've been pretty pleased with, one of which is now the cover of my sketch diary.… Continue

Elaina finding an image

So I'm moving all my pictures across computerdom and everything so all the images I have are enormous. I guess I just feel like if I take up that much space it's conceited or something, but I think a self portrait is the way to go, and the only one I have is a page outta my painting journal that I ain't even finished painting yet, really. So, get ready for a bigness.

So that inner c… Continue

Elaina Starting out.

I decided to do this thanks to a lot of inspiration from my sister, and from some youtube artsy superstars who, alltogether and working as an inadvertent rescue unit, sort of hit me on the head with the art hammer. And I would be a total douche if I didn't mention my partner, who has encouraged me ever since she saw me doodling on a paper table cloth at the Macaroni Grill. I love her so much. Anyways. I don't think I can live without making art. It's been a real catharsis to admit that, and th… Continue
